Sen. Lois Kolkhorst

Texas State Senate
District 18

Lois W. Kolkhorst is a member of the Texas House of Representatives, serving House District 13, which includes Austin, Burleson, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes, Lavaca and Washington Counties.

Her district spans over five-thousand square miles of rural Texas, from the Brazos Valley to the Coastal Plains.  Her district is famous for being the home of both Shiner Beer and Blue Bell Ice Cream.

She is a fifth-generation Texan, with ancestral roots dating back to the Texas War of Independence.   Born in Washington County, she grew up attending public schools before going on to graduate from Texas Christian University.    As a college athlete, she was a four-year letter winner for the Lady Frog Golf team, and earned Academic-All Southwest Conference honors.

She is still married to her high school sweetheart, Jim.  They have two children, Lois Kate and Jake.

Lois is a successful business owner who knows how to create jobs.   She and her husband have spent most of their adult life growing Kolkhorst Petroleum from less than 10 employees into a series of corporations that today employ over 300.

As a committed Christian conservative, Lois first accepted the call for public service in 2001, when she was elected to Texas House, defeating an incumbent.   Since then, she’s  become known for fighting big government overreach.    When she led the charge to kill the foreign toll-road plan known as the Trans-Texas Corridor, she became nationally known for protecting our personal property rights from eminent domain abuse.   She is known today as a pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment advocate who loudly fights for liberty and the belief that all innocent life is sacred and must be protected.
